Day In York & Recent Photos :)

Hey guys! Me and my amazing boyfriend Chris (chrisulliott.blogspot.com) decided to go to the beautiful city of York for the day. I have always loved York and all the history there is there, and I love going round the castle ruins.

This is a picture of me stood at the top of Clifford's Tower, a very old castle built in the 1200's

This is me and Chris

We had an excellent day and I would love to go back again! I love looking round all the unique shops, and I bought myself a painting by numbers set and here is the finished result, only took me 2 nights!

My boyfriend bought himself a crossbow for £25 which was a bargain apparently. He has been shooting it in his garden, I had a go but I missed the target and lost the spike thing in the trees!

Here are some other random pictures. This one I have just taken now, I have just had my hair put up because I am going to a Ball tonight, I am very pleased with it!
I am so excited for tonight! I am wearing a long black dress with a zip down the front and some silver and black strappy heels. I will upload some photos tomorrow!

I will end my post with a photo of my little cat Muffin!

1900 Future Predicting Postcards & a 1932 sat nav!

Hey everyone!I have not posted for a while because I have been busy doing some training for a new job I just got :)

I was having a look around for blog inspiration when I came across these pretty funny postcards of the view of people in 1900 of what technology would be like in the year 2000. Take a look!

This one portrays TV and radio, which we obviously have :)

We definitely have water motorbikes and water skis, without the balloons though!

A house moving by train.

We already have a commercial Jetpack, sold for $75,000!

Personal airships.

Combined ship and railway locomotive. Maybe this is a bit extreme , but we do have amphibious vehicles.

Police x-ray surveillance. We have surveillance cameras everywhere.

Weather control machines. This might be more the prediction of 2100, but it has already been shown possible to some degree by the Russians and Chinese. Scary.

Summer holidays at the North Pole. Possible if you have a lot of money to spare.

Moving pavements. We have them primarily in airports!

Roofed cities.

Undersea tourist boats. We definitely have tourist submarines if you have enough money.

I also thought I would include this amazing invention from 1932, an early GPS system! Take a look, I had no idea these existed back then!

A tom-tom! Works using rolling key map. The map passes the screen in a tempo that depends on the speed of the car.

15 Interesting Facts About Dreams

1. You Forget 90% of Your Dreams

Within 5 minutes of waking half of your dream is forgotten. Within 10, 90% is gone.

2. Blind People also Dream

People who became blind after birth can see images in their dreams. People who are born blind do not see any images, but have dreams equally vivid involving their other senses of sound, smell, touch and emotion.

3. Everybody Dreams

Every human being dreams (except in cases of extreme psychological disorder). If you think you are not dreaming – you just forget your dreams.

4. In Our Dreams We Only See Faces That We already Know

Our mind is not inventing faces – in our dreams we see real faces of real people that we have seen during our life but may not know or remember. We have all seen hundreds of thousands of faces throughout our lives, so we have an endless supply of characters for our brain to utilize during our dreams.

5. Not Everybody Dreams in Colour

A full 12% of sighted people dream exclusively in black and white. The remaining number dream in full colour. Studies from 1915 through to the 1950s maintained that the majority of dreams were in black and white, but these results began to change in the 1960s. Today only 4.4% of the dreams of under-25 year-olds are in black and white. Recent research has suggested that those changing results may be linked to the switch from black-and-white film and TV to colour media.

6. Dreams are Symbolic

If you dream about some particular subject it is not often that the dream is about that. Dreams speak in a deeply symbolic language. Whatever symbol your dream picks on it is most unlikely to be a symbol for itself.

7. Emotions

The most common emotion experienced in dreams is anxiety. Negative emotions are more common than positive ones.

8. You can have four to seven dreams in one night.

On average you can dream anywhere from one or two hours every night.

9. Animals Dream Too

Studies have been done on many different animals, and they all show the same brain waves during dreaming sleep as humans. Watch a dog sleeping sometime. The paws move like they are running and they make yipping sounds as if they are chasing something in a dream.

10. Body Paralysis

Rapid eye movement (REM) sleep is a normal stage of sleep characterized by rapid movements of the eyes. REM sleep in adult humans typically occupies 20-25% of total sleep, about 90-120 minutes of a night’s sleep.
During REM sleep the body is paralyzed by a mechanism in the brain in order to prevent the movements which occur in the dream from causing the physical body to move. However, it is possible for this mechanism to be triggered before, during, or after normal sleep while the brain awakens.

11. Dream Incorporation

Our mind interprets the external stimuli that our senses are bombarded with when we are asleep and make them a part of ourdreams. This means that sometimes in our dreams we hear a sound from reality and incorporate it in a way. For example you may be dreaming that you are in a concert while your brother is playing a guitar during your sleep.

12. Men and Women Dream Differently

Men tend to dream more about other men. Around 70% of the characters in a man’s dream are other men. On the other hand, a woman’s dream contains almost an equal number of men and women. Aside from that, men generally have more aggressive emotions in their dreams than the female lot.

13. Precognitive Dreams

Results of several surveys across large population sets indicate that between 18% and 38% of people have experienced at least one precognitive dream and 70% have experienced déjà  vu. The percentage of persons that believe precognitive dreaming is possible is even higher – ranging from 63% to 98%.

14. If you are snoring, then you cannot be dreaming.

This fact is repeated all over the Internet, but I’m a bit suspicious whether it’s really true as I haven’t found any scientific evidence to support it.

5.You can experience an o r g asm in your dream

You can not only have s e x as pleasurable as in your real life while dreaming, but also experience an  o r g a s m  as strong as a real one without any wet results. The sensations felt while lucid dreaming (touch, pleasure and etc..) can be as pleasurable and strong (or I believe even stronger) as the sensations experienced in the real world.

Little Update, TOWIE night + Amazon Wish List :)

Hey everyone! I am feeling in quite a good mood at the moment, partly because my best friend Lamahra has decided to move back to Hull from Leeds! So that means I'll get to see her a lot more often! At the moment she is partying away in Ibiza, I hope she has an amazing time! Jealous!

I'm also looking forward to going out next Friday because its TOWIE night! 4 of the cast will be at a club in Hull and they are holding a karaoke competition so anyone can sing against them and if you beat them you win a prize! I am going with my other very good friend Polly and we are going to doll ourselves up TOWIE style!

My next week will pretty much consist of me riding my horse Ikoss and going to the gym everyday (or at least trying to!). I'm really into the gym at the moment and hopefully its paying off! Even though lately I have been eating very unhealthy food, so next week will be different! I do have this bastard wisdom tooth though that is determined to make my life hell at the moment, but so far I'm coping with the IMMENSE PAIN IN MY CHEEK!!! :(

Anyway, here is a wish list of items I would love from Amazon (I read like crazy and have way too many books but hey ho)

I would absolutely love a kindle! But the only thing is, all the books I want to read I probably already own at the moment in paperback, so I would have to buy them again to have them on my Kindle, but I still really want one! They are £150 from Amazon.

The Secret
My friend Lamahra swears by this book. Apparently it is all about how to make yourself get what you want by having a positive attitude towards everybody and everything and surrounding yourself with positive things. I can definitely see how it can work for some people. I would love to have a read and see what it is all about. Its £6.90 from Amazon, not too bad. It does have quite good reviews too which makes it more tempting.

When God Was a Rabbit
Not really sure what its about, but it has amazing reviews and for only £3.99 on Amazon you can't go wrong :)

Water for Elephants: a Novel
I always like to try and read the books before I see the film version, so thats my reason here. £3.99 also :)

Room
"Jack is five. He lives with his Ma. They live in a single, locked room. They don’t have the key.
Jack and Ma are prisoners."

Doesn't that sound way too intriguing to ignore? £3.99

Before I Go To Sleep
Memories define us. So what if you lost yours every time you went to sleep?
An original, haunting, and deeply chilling debut. Cool. Maybe not for £6.99 though, I'd accept it as a present!

John Dies at the End

"My name is David Wong. My best friend is John. Those names are fake. You might want to change yours. You may not want to know about the things you ll read on these pages, about the sauce, about Korrock, about the invasion, and the future. But it is too late. You touched the book. You are in the game. You are under the eye. The only defence is knowledge. You need to read this book, to the end. Even the part about the bratwurst. Why? You will just have to trust me. Unfortunately for us, if you make the right choice, we will have a much harder time explaining how to fight off the otherwordly invasion currently threatening to enslave humanity. I m sorry to have involved you in this, I really am. But as you read about these terrible events and the very dark epoch the world is about to enter as a result, it is crucial you keep one thing in mind: NONE OF THIS IS MY FAULT."

Awesome. £5.11 (pre-order only)

War Horse
A book telling the story of a horses life on the front line in world war one. I am a horse lover so immediately wanted this book to have a good cry over! £3.51, Amazon

Thats about all I can think of right now!
I have had a busy night looking for clothes bargains on ebay too so I will share the ones I win with you! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
